Bakioğlu Holding's Two Big Steps Towards Renewable Energy

12 October 2021

We, Bakioğlu Holding, began our renewable energy production journey with the Aegean Forest Foundation Solar Energy Plant (GES) in 2014. As of June 2021, we have been awarded with the “International Renewable Energy Certificate Standard (IRECS)”, accrediting that the electricity consumed in all of our Packing Group plants located in the İzmir Çiğli Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone is from 100% renewable resources. Our Packaging Group Companies, Bak Ambalaj AŞ, Polibak Plastik Film AŞ, Bak Gravür AŞ, and Bareks Plastik Film AŞ, have received green electricity certificates and are taking noteworthy steps in line with sustainability policies to cut down approximately 100 thousand tons of CO2 annual emission by electricity consumption. One of them is the Solar Energy Plant installed on top of the Bareks Polietilen AŞ's factory operating in the İzbaş İzmir Free Trade Zone.

With the sustainability policy in mind and the target of reducing our carbon footprint, our Packaging Group Companies continue to contribute to this initiative with renewable energy investments and energy efficiency projects they are involved in.
