Foundation story of Bakioğlu Holding started with the production of printed and unprinted paper bags at the Kahramanlar district of Izmir in 1973 when the deceased Enver Bakioglu established Bak Ambalaj, the flagship of the current corporations. Having diversified its product range with the production of food, detergent and ready-made clothing packages in the form of flexo-printed and unprinted on polyethylene thanks to its expanded machine pool in 1976, Bak Ambalaj achieved an investment on Rotogravure Printing Machine in accordance with the changing packaging requirements of our developing country in 1980 and shifted to the production of high quality printed packaging of plastic film of micron thickness.

Having specialised in the Packaging Sector and increasingly enhanced its business volume, Bak Ambalaj moved to its modern facilities with a covered area of 15.000 sqm within an area of 22.000 sqm at the Ataturk Organised Industrial Zone at Cigli, Izmir in 1990.

Having closely followed up the changing consumer choices and the technology, the company added new investments to its facilities every year. When it reached the year 1998 with an acceleration which increased with every elapsing year, Bak Ambalaj started to export 25% of its production.

Having taken over a Bread Packaging Plant in 1998, Bak Ambalaj activated its second production plant at the Ataturk Organised Industrial Zone in 2007, thus increasing the number of its plants to three and its total capacity to 16.000 tons.

Upon the incorporation of Polibak Plastik Film Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi, which produces mono- and bi-oriented polypropylene film which is one of the basic inputs of flexible packaging, in 1993, another step was taken towards the vertical integration which is aimed to achieve in the Packaging Sector. When the machine pool equipped with the state-of-the-art technology shall be put into practice at ever-developing Polibak in 2009, the capacity shall rise up to 80.000 tons.

Baksas Sigorta ve Aracilik Hizmetleri A.S. joined the group in 1994 in order to satisfy insurance requirements of the Holding companies whose number was continuously increasing and to provide external companies with services.

In order to make some contribution to the economic and social life of the Aegean region by building a bridge with Ankara, Egevizyon Gorsel ve Isitsel Medya Yayinlari Ticaret ve Sanayi Anonim Sirketi (Ege TV and Radyo Ege), which broadcast on local basis, was incorporated in 1994, thus including television and radio into its Holding companies and existing in the Media Sector as well.

Polibak USA was incorporated in 1995 in order to market the products of Polibak in the United States of America.

Having started its operations in 1995 and been incorporated to build factories on key-turn basis, Bakis Yapi Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi achieves factory, school and hospital buildings for the Holding companies as well as other sectors.

Baktrans Tasimacilik Ticaret Anonim Sirketi was incorporated in 1995 in order to achieve product transports of the Bakioglu Holding companies and to provide non-Holding corporations with logistic services. Having considered that time is very valuable as per the new order and the present conjuncture which the rapidly globalising world established, Baktrans started helicopter transportation and included VIP transportation, touristic flights, air taxiing, patient transfer, photographing and videoing into the scope of its services.

Having continued its development as the Bakioglu Group of Companies and strengthened its existence through integration in the Packaging Sector, the group gathered under the roof of the Holding, took the name of Bakioglu Holidng in 1996, thus taking another step towards institutionalisation.

Gravure International Enternasyonel Gravur Teknolojisi Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi, which achieves pre-printing gravure processing and printing block production, was incorporated in 1998 and including the printing block and printing roller which are the most important components of the rotogravure and flexo printing into the Holding companies, thus adding another link to the integration.

Also operating in the building sector, Bakioglu Holding incorporated Baksam Metal Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi, which markets aluminium boards and roofing materials, in 1998, thus having included a corporation which supplies important inputs to the building sector.

Being conscious of the fact that close pursuit of the rapidly developing technology is related with communications, Bakioglu Holding incorporated Baknet Iletisim ve Bilgisayar Urunleri Pazarlama Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi in 2000, thus keeping up with the era.

The last link of the vertical integration which Bakioglu Holding formed in the Flexible Packaging Sector, Bareks Plastik Ekstruzyon Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi was incorporated in 2002 and now achieves multi-ply technological polyethylene film production.
